I'd like to start off by saying Happy Easter to everyone!! Hope you had a fantastic day filled with family, friends, chocolate, dogs, and whatever else your heart desired. I have spent 2 fun-filled days with family, friends, dogs, and a little chocolate thrown in for good measure. Obviously the chocolate for me, not for the dogs!

I came home today after a long day "playing" and celebrating the holiday weekend.. and the first thing I read about was a large scale operation the local no-kill humane society has just undertaken. The selflessness of these volunteers astounds me everyday, but especially today when most of us are doing our own family activities they are still focused very much on the health and well-being and 20 plus abandoned dogs! Imagine what a better world we would live in if more people had even a portion of the selflessness these volunteers demonstrate each and every day.

If all we can do is only a small part to help with these animals, every little bit helps. Dog food, donations, and even prayers go a long way towards helping these animals.. and helping those helping these animals! Abandoned animals don't wait, and aren't scheduled until a "good time"... these animals needed help this weekend when so many are unavailable, but a small group of volunteers took time out of their weekend to help them when they needed it the most.

While I would love nothing more than to give a home to each and every one of these poor animals, I do know my own limits (not to mention I would probably end up on TV on some animal hoarders show! ;) I can help by giving a small donation and sharing this information with others, who can in turn help in their own way as well.

Look at just a few of these precious animals - going towards the much needed food!  I am also including the chipin information if you feel compelled to help these precious dogs.

Happy Easter to all, and God Bless!

As a long time dog lover and dog parent I have always believed I was feeding my dogs food that was good for them. I don't buy the "cheap" food, or the "generic" names no one has ever heard of before.. I have always fed them name brand products, 90% of the time Purina Beneful, from the shelf at the grocery store. I must admit I never read the label, I watched their well made commercials, and saw all those great vegetable pictures on the bag..  and I was fooled. At one point a few weeks ago I noticed that I could not find the label on the bag, well that was a bad sign. I started doing some research and found www.dogfoodadvisor.com, I quickly found out that there was a reason I couldn't find that label. I was stunned to find out that not only was I not feeding them food that was good for them, but it was actually right down there with some of the worst. Come to find out that those fancy commercials and nice packaging really doesn't mean much, yeah I know, not my smartest moment. I like to think Im normally not to easily fooled, but in this case I was.

So after much research I decided on a new food, Blue Buffalo, one with 5 star ratings instead of a 1 star rating! Sure, our monthly dog food budget has increased.. but they are members of our family.. how can we put a price on their health? For me this was an easy choice, they are so worth the best food I can feed them. I only wish I had realized it sooner. I feel better knowing I am taking better care of them, and I'm sure they feel better with a higher quality food.

After all don't our best friends deserve our best too?
