The loss of a pet, just like the loss of any member of your family, can be a very painful experience. We find some solace from other pet parents who have been through the experience before. Although our friends and families try to acknowledge the pain, the importance of the loss may not be fully realized by others. The bond we share with our pets is special and unique for each person. Remember that you do not need anyone else's approval to mourn the loss of your pet, and do not feel as if you have to justify your feelings to others. Take time for yourself, or surround yourself by others who can understand your pain.
